Our Story
A Working Farm with a Warm Welcome
Wheelers Farm Lodge sits on the edge of Little Waltham, a quiet village just a few miles north of Chelmsford. The farm has been part of the local landscape for generations — and when we decided to open our doors to guests, we wanted to share something of that history and character.
The lodge rooms have been carefully converted from original farm buildings, keeping as much of the character as possible — the timber beams, the stone walls, the sense of space and quiet that you only find in the countryside. We've added the comforts you'd expect, but we've tried not to lose what makes this place special.
We're not a hotel. We're your hosts. That means a personal welcome, a proper farmhouse breakfast, and someone who genuinely knows the local area and wants your stay to be memorable.

The Heart of Rural Essex
Little Waltham is one of those Essex villages that feels a world away from the city — but isn't. We're just five miles from Chelmsford city centre, with easy access to the A12 and the train to London Liverpool Street. The surrounding countryside is some of the best in the county: flat, open Essex farmland, river valleys, ancient woodland, and quiet lanes perfect for cycling or walking.
